First off, I need to tell you a tiny little bit about myself. In June 2019, while working full-time, I submitted my thesis in graduated in July. I have a bachelor’s degree in international tourism management. I applied for more than fifty jobs between August 2019 and February 2020, and believe me, I put a lot of effort into it. I got three interviews, which lead to nothing. I was feeling highly-stressed, fearful, and insecure. With almost no savings, in March 2020, I started to work full-time at a restaurant. Because of COVID-19, it closed fourteen days after. The restaurant opened again in June 2020. From April until November, I applied for sixty-two entry-level jobs, I got one interview. Unfortunately, they decided to pick a better candidate. Despite the rejection, it was the first time a company gave me relevant feedback; I realized that I needed to learn more in-demand skills. I was feeling completely frustrated again. I said to myself: “How can I learn all these programs? How can I get proof of it? I could not think of any possible solution”.
At Christmas time, I saw a notification on LinkedIn “congratulate (name of the person) for starting a new job at …”. Before she got the job, she completed a Nanodegree at Udacity. I informed myself about the topic, evaluated, read reviews, and so on. I started feeling motivated again. I already had some experience with marketing, which is why I chose the digital marketing Nanodegree.
I started the Nanodegree on January 8th, 2021. Now I am going to tell you why I chose it.
- Udacity provided me with financial aid.
- Udacity developed this degree with some of the most relevant companies in Digital marketing; Facebook, Google, Hootsuite, Hubspot, Mailchimp, and MOZ.
- Since the start of the course, they not only talk theory, they give you real-life examples.
- They have worked together with three companies in three different industries that use digital marketing to reach their business objectives.
- The Nanodegree is extensive and brings every topic into detail. It gives you extra learning material made from the collaborators.
- They allow the students to take part in 1 to 1 career coaching since day one.
- They help you optimize your resume and LinkedIn profile.
- You can learn how to use the most relevant digital marketing tools (Facebook and Instagram ads, google ads and google analytics)
- You become insightful and detailed feedback, which is extremely important for me.
The course is divided into thirteen parts; the students need to complete a total of ten projects. Writing this blog is the second project, so as you can see, it is a hands-on program! I might think that many people like me are in a similar situation, maybe this program is also right for you!
